TRADERS whose paint brushes have been confiscated by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, can get them back if they comply with the orders to label them. Its Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said the one-month grace period for traders to comply with the ruling ended on March 9. “We will return the brushes to those who label the products clearly, that it is made from pig bristles or dog hair. “However, if they fail to do so, we will keep the brushes as evidence for the next course of action,” Hamzah said in reply to Hee Loy Sian (PKR-PJ Selatan) who asked if the ministry would return the brushes seized in raids.
Hamzah said there were aspects in the Trade Description Order, which traders did not comply with.
“We just need them to label if brushes that they sell are made from animal-associated products such as pigs or dogs,” he added. Hamzah also rejected calls for a pig logo on the paint brushes, as suggested by Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia chairman Datuk Nadzim Johan.
